This is a permanent full time position working 40 hours per week. The position requires flexibility of hours relating to incidents and fire related emergencies.

Core Credentials and Qualifications

There are several ways to get the ball rolling as a prospective Volunteer Firefighter, like submitting an online Expression of Interest Form; or attending one of our public engagement events; or just coming down to one of our stations for a chat. Depending on your desired role, there are a few prerequisites that will determine your suitability as a candidate.

Recruit Program - Operational Members

  • Be at least 18 years of age (15 with parental consent)
  • Be able to pass a criminal records check
  • Pass a medical physical, along with an annual fitness assessment
  • Commit to being an active member of the organization, including fulfilling a monthly participation requirement
  • Complete initial training and take part in ongoing courses
  • Be willing to participate in department-sponsored events and meetings.
  • Have a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence

Non-Operational Support Roles

  • Be at least 18 years of age (15 with parental consent)
  • Be able to pass a criminal records check
  • Meet a monthly participation requirement
  • Participate in department-sponsored events and meetings.
  • Have a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence

Cadet Program

  • Be between 15 and 17 years of age
  • Be willing to participate in training and orientation
